Glasnevin is so much more than a historic cemetery. The stunning visitor centre run by the Glasnevin Trust and opened in 2010 houses exhibitions on the lives of the famous and not so famous throughout Irish history.
After viewing the City of the Dead, the Milestone Gallery, and the Prospect Gallery inside, you can go on a 1 hour walking tour of the cemetery outside and learn a lot of important history in the process. A combination ticket is required to see both but it is well worth it and an excellent value. The museum also has a nice cafe for afterwards, but the site is lacking an email newsletter to subscribe to upcoming exhibitions and happenings.
